Rise and Shine: Five ways to start your day right

Groggy, tired and lacking motivation - sound familiar? Starting your day in the wrong way is never a good idea and can easily become a habit. What you decide to do in the hour after you wake up can have a huge impact on the rest of your day. With that in mind, here are a few ways to help you start your day right.

Get up early

We all like a lie in on the weekend - there’s no doubt about that. However, getting up bright and early during the week is the perfect way to start your day right. Whether you’re going on an early morning walk or getting in half an hours worth of reading, you can shake off that grogginess when you get up early. Remember - it doesn’t have to be 5 am for you to feel the effects. Even waking up an hour earlier could totally change the rest of your day.

Start moving

The benefits of exercise aren’t a surprise to anyone. We know it can feel tough to drag yourself out of bed an hour earlier for a morning run, but trust us - you’ll feel a whole lot better. It doesn’t have to be too strenuous either - even a refreshing walk around the woods is a great way to get you ready for the day. Set an alarm, stay disciplined and try your hardest to fit in 30 minutes of exercise every morning.

Meditate

Practising mindfulness isn’t all incense and star signs. When done right, meditating can have a profound effect on your mornings. If you ever wake up with that regular feeling of dread for the working day, take 15 minutes to take a breath and clear your mind. Meditating is all about slowing down your mind and controlling your thoughts, which makes it perfect for setting up your day.

Dress up chic

Let’s face it, working from home for more than a year has forced most of us into our loungewear on a daily basis. However, if you want to start your morning right,  we suggest getting dressed up! Whether you’re going all out with a gorgeous midi dress or want some popping pink dresses to brighten up your morning, dressing up after you get out of bed is always a  good idea. At the end of the day, if you’re not wearing something chic, you’re not going to feel your best.

Eat something healthy

If the first thing you eat when you wake up isn’t healthy, you’re not doing your body any good from the start. Eating something fresh and healthy after you wake up will give you the right kind of fuel for the rest of the day, as well as stopping those sugar crashes. A lot of people don’t even eat breakfast, which is even worse! We suggest making some eggs or eating some healthy cereal to keep your body tip top.
