Hi, I’m Gülly, I have been with the brand for around two years now, intially coming into the brand as a Senior Account Manger to manage our biggest wholesale partners. I was then given the opportunity to cover the position of Head of Wholesale , which is my current role where I have worked with the support of my fantastic team to manage, grow and develop our partnerships globally.
For as long as I can remember I wanted a career in fashion, I wasn’t always sure which area I wanted to go into but as I went through my academic and professional career, it became clear that I enjoyed both the creative and business side of the industry.
I had completed a BTEC in Fashion & Clothing in college where I learnt all about pattern cutting, garment construction, range building etc, I then proceeded to University to Study Business and Retail Management which incorporated Business Studies with Fashion and Retail, it was here I realised I wanted to become a Buyer.
I started off in the industry in a Buying role shortly after graduating and got to work across a multitude of products, Footwear, Accessories, Separates and my favourite category, Dresses. The best advice I could give to anyone starting out in Buying is work across as many categories as you can, and really take the opportunity to learn about different product areas to support your professional development.
Whilst working in Buying I was given the opportunity to move onto a Wholesale department, in all honestly initially I was hesitant, I was set on staying in product development buying, but I embraced the change. This move set me on the path to work with external business across wholesale, concession, and franchise models, it is fantastic to work on building ranges to sell globally.
The thing I enjoy the most within my current role at Chi Chi London, is how each day is different, there is a great balance between creative and strategic tasks that we work through collaboratively across the teams. The last two years have been exciting, the brand has grown its reach globally, and product offering has evolved so much.
Personally, AW is my favourite season for fashion, I adore elevated knitwear, cosy coats, and relaxed dresses that I can pair back to boots, my absolute favourite piece from our AW collection is the ‘Chi Chi Curve Natasa Dress’ I can tell this is going to be an AW day to evening staple piece for me.
