How to host the perfect winter night

After the clocks go back, you’ll probably find yourself spending a lot more time indoors. While it might be a bit chillier, there’s nothing cosier than snuggling up around a fire under the stars. To help you host the perfect winter night with friends and family, we’ve got together some of our top tips.

Wrap up warm

With the temperature well and truly dipping, there’s no doubt that it’s time to whip out some of your favourite coats, jackets and woolly knitted jumpers. While you and your guests are wrapped up warm, there’s no reason why you can’t add an extra layer of cosiness to the night. When laying out the chairs, make sure to add a good amount of warm blankets so your mates can snuggle up. Even with a fire in the back garden, keeping everybody cosy and warm is key to hosting a winter night to remember. On top of that - everybody will end up staying a bit longer too!

Sparklers and fireworks

Kids or adults - everybody loves sparklers and fireworks on a cold winter’s night. However, when it comes to fireworks, it’s all about quality over quantity. We suggest choosing a wide variety of fireworks in order to keep things interesting, as well as keeping a good supply of sparklers handy (especially when there are kids coming around). End the night with a bang by saving your best till last too. At the end of the day, a winter’s night outdoors isn’t complete without sending some fireworks into the night’s sky.

Tasty treats

Like all gatherings around your house, nailing the food means you’ve nailed the night. As you’re spending most of the night outdoors, warm food is a must. Easy to cook and delicious to eat, BBQ food packed with burgers and hotdogs is a no brainer. Also, cooking up some marshmallows on the fire will only add to the cosy atmosphere - especially when there are kids around.

Remember the fire pit!

With the chairs set up alongside some snuggly blankets, a fire pit could be the centre stage of an outdoor party. There are plenty of ways to light a big or small fire, so make sure you’ve got firelighters, wood fuel and enough space to light it. Remember - safety should always be your number one priority when you have a fire pit. Ensure everybody is far enough away from the fire - especially with kids around.
